FUSION RECYCLING incorporates Think Smart Recycle, Fusion Charity Shops and “The Pantry” emergency food collection point.
Making your house a home can be hard on a limited budget, whether your trying to get furniture or trying to put a regular meal in the table. Fusion Housing and Kirklees Council can support your access to local provisions in Kirklees.
Think Smart Recycle is an innovative scheme run by Fusion Housing in partnership with Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing. The scheme will collect your unwanted household goods and furniture free of charge, and these will be distributed free of charge to many vulnerable new tenants across Kirklees to help them turn a new tenancy into a home. So far, the scheme has donated over 12 000 items to over 2 700 families across Kirklees.
We are always in need of the following items in good condition:
Electrical items in good working order (instructions would be really useful too!), especially cookers, washing machines, microwaves, fridge-freezers, kettles, toasters, TVs/Freeview boxes, DVD players, stereos. We safety test all electrical items.
Living room furniture, especially sofas, coffee tables, bookcases, dining tables/chairs
Bedroom furniture, especially beds in very good condition, wardrobes/chests of drawers.
Kitchen items such as pans, crockery, cutlery.
New/laundered towels, bedding, curtains – new duvets and pillows (for hygiene reasons).
Working mobile ‘phones with charger.
WE APOLOGISE, but we’re unable to take any gas appliances. All soft furnishing items (e.g. sofas/mattresses) MUST have fire retardant labels.
How to donate to Fusion Recycling
Your donations really make a difference. All donation are reallocated to people in need in your local community and communities across Kirklees.
What if I need basic furniture to set up my new home, or what if an essential appliance breaks down and I can’t afford a new one?
- Working with your Fusion Housing Support Worker to complete an application for a furniture pack
- If you are a Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing (KNH)tenant, you can work with your housing officer when you sign up for your property and complete and application for household items that you might need.
- If you are not working with Fusion or KNH but need help making your house a home you can contact the Local Welfare provision on 01484 414782 and make a direct application for help. Lines are open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
If an essential item you can’t afford to replace breaks down (e.g. cooker, fridge), you can also see if you may qualify for help with a replacement.
In partnership with Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing (KNH), our recycling team stepped up to a new level with the opening of our charity shop. We aim to help recycle more and cut the amount of waste in Kirklees, whilst benefiting families and single people in crisis/on low incomes, as all proceeds from the shop are ploughed back into the Thinksmart project to benefit more people in Kirklees.
April 2014 saw the launch of the Fusion charity shop at Unit 4 Empire House, Dewsbury, and so now Dewsbury residents can benefit from shopping for a bargain or can donate their unwanted items to help the local community.
If you would like to donate to the charity shop please call 01924454770 Ext 301 or complete your details and one of our workers will contact you shortly.
Alongside the charity shop, Unit 4 also acts as a collection point for emergency food in North Kirklees, and houses “The Pantry.”
