Fusion Learning grew out of the Inroads partnership which was formed in 1998 to help young people in Kirklees get back into learning, education and jobs. Most of the young people we help are or have been homeless or are in housing need. They may also be facing other issues as well. Fusion Learning is a small team that has developed to offer a range of options to these young people. We assist young people to access a variety of services provided by us and offer additional support to help them to move onto other services when they are ready.

Our work is funded from a variety of sources including:

  • Supporting People
  • European Social Fund
  • Kirklees Adult & Community Learning
  • Charitable Trusts and donations from companies

Eligibility Criteria

Fusion Learning services are for young people aged 16 to 30 who are:-

  • unemployed or employed in a non-progressive position
  • Not in training except below level 2
  • Not involved in any other government programme unless the days of training are outside of those hours

Where services are over-subscribed, priority will be given to:

  • Unemployed young people
  • Young people not active in any training scheme
  • Young people accessing other Fusion Housing services
  • Young people who have referred themselves

Referral System

A simple, single referral form is used to refer young people to Fusion Learning. This can be completed by a worker from any agency working with young people. Young people can also self-refer. When a referral is made, a member of the team will invite the young person in for a chat. This first meeting will include:

  • An assessment of the young person’s individual needs including additional support needs
  • Signposting to Fusion Learning services based on the individual action plan and completion of registration details and/or
  • Signposting to services with another provider
  • It may also involve an assessment of literacy and numeracy needs

Please use the Referral Form on this page.
